Luke 5:1-11 The Calling of the First Disciples

Somehow I seem to keep finding myself at a place of feeling unworthy, but time and time again, God counters my fears with truth.
Once again we see just how personal Jesus is with each of us. After performing many miracles on healing and casting out evil spirits, he comes to these fishermen and performs a miracle that deals with their common daily routine in work. After seeing Jesus’ miracle, Simon Peter...

...fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord, I am a sinful man!” ... Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will catch men.” So they … left everything and followed him.

Jesus didn't look at Peter as a sinner, but as his child whom he loved and desired for him to take part in the building of his kingdom.
This is how he looks at us! Acknowledging our sin is important, but once we receive His salvation, all we must do is leave our past behind us and press forward into committing our future with Him.

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining on towards what is ahead. I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 3:13-14
